A 320 cc twin with 42 hp is a proper motorcycle by any standard, and on the open sections north of Hai Van it finally feels like the road is not holding you back. It is also the heaviest thing here at 169 kg, which changes everything at low speed and in car parks. Riders with real experience love it. Riders without it usually discover that within the first hour. Legally you need a full motorcycle licence and an IDP for this class.

They asked to see my licence before handing over the MT-03 and refused a guy in front of me who did not have one. Slightly awkward to watch, but it told me everything about how they operate.
Took the MT-03 for a week and rode Hai Van twice. The bike pulls properly on the open sections — a scooter would have been miserable there. Linh knows the roads and marked three viewpoints on my map that were not on Google. Two-up with backpacks it gets cramped on long stretches, worth knowing.
Great bike, and Duc was excellent on communication. One caveat worth flagging: they hold your passport rather than cash for this class, which I was not comfortable with and only found out at handover. Ask first if that matters to you.
If you actually hold a motorcycle licence, take the MT-03 and do the pass early in the morning. Empty road, cold air, the bike is more than enough. Do not take it as your first ever bike.
